How to play

Find the three-digit code using the clues on the notebook. Every clue is true, and exactly one code fits them all.

The daily puzzle

What the clues mean

Each printed row describes the three digits beside it. The counts are exact, not minimums. Any digits not counted as correct are absent from the code.

ClueMeaning
None correctNone of those three digits appears in the code.
1 correct digit
right place
Exactly one digit appears in the code, in that position. The other two are absent.
1 correct digit
wrong place
Exactly one digit appears in the code, but in a different position. The other two are absent.
2 correct digits
right places
Exactly two digits appear in the code, both in those positions. The third is absent.
2 correct digits
wrong places
Exactly two digits appear in the code, but both belong in different positions. The third is absent.
1 right place
1 wrong place
Exactly two digits appear in the code. One is in its right position; the other must move. The third is absent.

The colours help separate the clue meanings, but the words carry the full rule. A green line never identifies which individual digit is correct.

See how the clues work together in a step-by-step practice puzzle.

Start when you are ready

  1. Choose Begin puzzle to reveal the clues and start the timer.
  2. Tap the handwritten digits to fill the answer boxes. Tap a box to change it. A physical keyboard works too.
  3. Choose Check code when you have all three digits. A wrong answer uses one guess; the printed clues stay the same.

The timer keeps running while you are away. Refreshing does not restart it. Ranked times come from the server, so network delays count too.

Names, scores, and sharing

A name is optional. The person icon opens Your name, where you can save a nickname in this browser. Set it separately on each device.

Only a solved, server-timed run can join the daily leaderboard. Faster times rank first; fewer guesses break exact time ties. You can turn off automatic posting or remove your name from the board.

After a win or loss, the result card shows your number of guesses and time without the answer. Copy image copies the card for pasting into a chat. Share image opens your device's share sheet.

Use More result options to download the image or copy your score as text. You can also copy or share the full puzzle link. Choose Review puzzle or Show working to see the answer.

Previous puzzles

The date control opens earlier puzzles. Archive games are unranked and do not affect your daily streak. Older completed games keep the attempt limit they had when played.
